Cyclo-Cross Race Dates

Cyclo-Cross is typically an Autumn / Winter sport that can best be described as races that are a cross between mountain biking and road racing. The tracks are usually short and grassy (or muddy depending on the weather!) and will feature obstacles and ditches requiring riders to dismount. Races can be ridden on a cyclocross bike or a mountain bike.

Maldon CC have announced dates for the 2018 Summer Series - but please note that due to lack of rainfall, this series is not confirmed:
From the Maldon CC Website:

Unfortunately, due to the lack of rainfall we cannot confirm that some or any of the Summer/Evening Cyclo Cross events can take place this year.
As you can imagine, the fields are very open and have therefore been baked to almost concrete suffering with large and deep cracks. Also, it is virtually impossible to get the course stakes into the ground without damaging them and also it taking far longer than usual to set out the course.
Therefore the Smith Family will be making a decision on at least the first event by no later than Friday 24th August. The decision will be posted on the website and also our facebook page/group and twitter feed. Further decisions on remaining events may be possible depending on rainfall softening the ground.
As always the club are extremely grateful to the Smith Family for running these events and as such fully support and understand the issues the current dry and hot weather has caused.
Please do keep a check on the club website for further updates.
