Cyclo-Cross is typically an Autumn / Winter sport that
can best be described as races that are a cross between mountain biking
and road racing. The tracks are usually short and grassy (or muddy
depending on the weather!) and will feature obstacles and ditches
requiring riders to dismount. Races can be ridden on a cyclocross bike
or a mountain bike.

Summer Series - but please note that due to lack of rainfall, this
series is not confirmed:

Unfortunately, due to the lack of rainfall we cannot confirm that
some or any of the Summer/Evening Cyclo Cross events can take place this
As you can imagine, the fields are very open and have therefore been
baked to almost concrete suffering with large and deep cracks. Also, it
is virtually impossible to get the course stakes into the ground without
damaging them and also it taking far longer than usual to set out the
Therefore the Smith Family will be making a decision on at least the
first event by no later than Friday 24th August. The decision will be
posted on the website and also our facebook page/group and twitter feed.
Further decisions on remaining events may be possible depending on
rainfall softening the ground.
As always the club are extremely grateful to the Smith Family for
running these events and as such fully support and understand the issues
the current dry and hot weather has caused.

Would riders & their supporters please spare a few moments
immediately after the race to help dismantle the course. Thanks.
Course dismantling: Unhook tape from stakes but do not wind longer
sections at it will be wound onto a drum. Lift stakes & place in piles,
alongside one stake left standing as a marker. If nearby, drop stakes in
the wooden crate near the ditch passage.
