Thursday 2nd August and we are priveleged to be at the opening night of
the track cycling at the London 2012 Olympics. We saw Jess Varnish and
'Queen' Victoria Pendleton set a world record in the team sprint in the
qualifying round, only to be relegated in the first round after setting
a fast enough time to reach the final. One medal lost.
The trio of Dani King, Jo Rowsell & Laura Trott set the first on 3 world records in the qualifying round on the way to their gold medal in the Team Pursuit, before Phil Hindes, Jason Kenny and Sir Chris Hoy broke two more world records on the way to their Team Sprint Gold Medal. What a session of cycling.
