September Racing and Time Trial Update

September - 3 Peaks Cylocross

Chirs English competed in the annual 3 Peaks Cyclocross race in the Yorkshire Dales, over the summits of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent. His official finish time was 4hr 36min, placed 311th out of 650 starters.

Wednesday September 30th - Women's Eastern Racing League Final Standings
Hannah Shean is the winner of the U-18s (Junior) WERL Standings. Fantastic achievement. Standings

Saturday September 26th - 20015 Championship 25 & Southend / Maldon interclub, Steeple
Paul Hart
is the 2015 25 Mile Champion, recoding a PB of 56:21 and was also first on Handicap, James Jenkins was second and first Junior, also setting a PB with 57:53. Peter Stiff was both fastest Veteran and first on Age Standard. Chris Pennington and Russel Whitford also set PBs.
Elizabeth Simpson was first Lady and 2015 Ladies 25 Mile Champion.
Fastest rider overall was Lloyd Chapman of Richatdsons-Trek with a time of 54:25.

Southend Wheelers had 3 teams in this year's ECCA 3-Up:

Dave Pennington & James Jenkins: 56:32 - third fastest on the day but not counting as only a 2-Up
Phil Warner, Matt Welbourn & Chris Pennington: 58:58 - 3rd position on the day
Denise Kemp, Hayley Williams & Hannah Shean: 1:08:35

Saturday September 19th - ECCA 10, E2 Six Mile Bottom
A good number of entries for this late season chance to set a PB on the fastest course in the South-East, including Mike Hennessy breaking his age record for 74, set earlier this year, with a time of 23:35.

This gets a little complicated; the club's 10 miles team record was broken twice (due to the starting order)
First by James, Paul & Russel with 1:03:03 and then by James, Paul and David 1:02:57. 30 seconds better than the previous record

September - Autumn Leaves
Julie Kane, Carol Cartwright and Elizabeth Simpson completed the Essex Roads Autumn Leaves. Over 1,500m of climbing in the 100 miles, which is 250m more than Ride London. A tough ride.

September Tour of the Alps
Not exactly racing or time trialling but Martin Harris spent six days climbing in the Alps, but is sadly getting slower up the Alpe d'Huez with each passing year. 2015 Alpine Tour
