Southend Wheelers 10 O'clock Revival
10m Sunday 3rd September
Canewdon Village Hall

Perfect preparation for Thorpe Bay Rotary Club’s
Foulness Bike Ride the following week!

Southend Wheelers cycling club is re-launching its regular Sunday morning group rides. It costs nothing to take part and everyone is welcome. We meet in the car-park at Canewdon Village Hall, ready to depart at 10am for a ride along the safe, quiet lanes around Canewdon and Stambridge and maybe Paglesham or Wallasea, or beyond! The hall will be open so the toilets will be available and you’ll be able to fill your water bottles if necessary. There are three distinct levels of ride for all levels of fitness and experience, so anybody can take part. Each ride will be led by an experienced ride leader who will brief you on the route before the start. They will ensure the group sticks together and nobody gets left behind. Best of all, there will be tea/coffee and cakes available in the hall afterwards for a small donation to the club, and we’d love you to come in and tell us how much you enjoyed it. All we ask is that your bike is road-worthy, and we strongly recommend you wear an approved cycling helmet. Under 14s must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

GREEN – a gentle ride for novices or those returning to cycling after a long time away, for no more than an hour, at a pace of 10-12mph or at the speed of the slowest rider.

BLUE – an easy ride for recreational and leisure riders, but for whom riding in a group might be a new experience, for about 1½ hours, at a speed of around 12-14 mph. The ride leader(s) will ensure everyone sticks together and no-one gets dropped

RED – a traditional club-run for riders used to riding in a group, averaging around 14-16 mph over 2 or 3 hours, but the pace may vary with the terrain. However, the ride will re-group at the tops of hills etc. to allow stragglers to catch up and not get dropped.
