Wednesday 15th August - Wednesday League, East Hanningfield 10.7 miles, E18 with Essex Roads
David Carey continued his fine form again taking honours for Fastest Wheeler, Fastest Veteran and First on Vet Age Std. Daniel Salmon (2nd), Barry Simpson (3rd) and John Gretton (4th) all set Course Bests and Carol Cartwright was Fastest Lady.
As this is the last event for solos, the standings are now confirmed for all competitions except the scratch. Results    Tables

Saturday 11th August - Southend Wheelers Criteriums, Redbridge Cycle Centre
The National B race, winner Damien Clayton received the Lesley Lodemore Cup having lapped the bunch, third placed Oliver Cliff took the Aspirants Trophy for Best Under-23, and fourth placed Mark Richards was the ERRL Circuit Racing Champion. Saturday 11th August - ECCA 10, E2
Two Wheelers in action and two great results; Jamie Maidment set a PB of 22:30 and Katie-Ann Elliston set a PB of 25:22 which is also a Club Juvenile Record, beating Denise Bristow's (Kemp) time that has stood for as long as some of Beryl Burton's records. The Lady Junior record is Jacqui Watson's time of 24:28 and the Senior Lady's record is 23:00, set by Jenny Patience. Club records
Jamie's time has resulted in him leapfrogging Peter Stiff into 2nd position in the BAR. BAR

Wednesday 8th August - Wednesday League, Steeple E21, 10 miles, with EETC
David Carey took most of the honours on a windy night at Steeple with Carol Cartwright Fastest Lady and Matt Kane First on Handicap. And a Course Best for Daniel Salmon in 24:51

Sunday 5th August - TA 25
Ian Mackenzie set a new Trike Age Record for 72 with a time of 1:30:31. Age Records

Sunday 5th August - National 25 Mile TT, Liphook P884
Paul Hart's time of 48:22 was the club's fastest 25 of the season and was good enough for 18th. Fellow Essex Rider Colin Ward was equal 9th in 47:06

Wednesday 1st August - Wednesday League, East Hanningfield E18, 10.7 miles with Essex Roads
9 Wheelers started tonight's race, 8 finished and 6 set Course Bests. Fastest overall, Fastest Vet and First on both Handicap and Vets Age Standard was David Carey in a Course Best of 23:27, Carol Cartwright was Fastest Lady in a Course Best of 32:22 and Chris Smith III, Daniel Salmon, John Gretton and Julie Kane all set Course Bests. Saturday 21st July - Rockingham Motor Raceway, Corby
A bit of an ex-Wheelers reunion with Bob Barber racing alongside Andy Lyons, Dean Shannon (both Richardsons-Trek) and Pete Anderson.
Best ride was by Andy Lyons who won the 45-49 age group race with a 2 laps to go solo attack and held on to win.
Bob Barber was 3rd in the 65-69 race.
Dean Shannon was 4th in the 35-39 age group race.
Pete Anderson was 15th in the 55-59 age group race.

Wednesday 25th July - Wednesday League, Steeple E21
Peter Stiff wrapped up the Wednesday League with a dominant performance - Fastest Overall, Fastest Vet, First on Handicap and First on Vet Age Standard with Katie-Ann Elliston also clinching the Ladies League. Elsewhere there was a tie between Adrian Cartwright and Charmaine Sterling. Results    Tables

Sunday 22nd July - Colchester Rovers Open 39 Mile TT
Chris Smith III was second (behind Colin Ward) with a time of 1:30:25

Sunday 22nd July - Shaftesbury 50 Mile TT, E2
Sad news - Paul Hart is no longer the National 50 Mile Record Holder as Marcin Bialoblocki rode 1:30:31 to claim the record. Age Records
Steve Shore set a new age record for 71 with a time of 2:05:34

Sunday 22nd July - Ipswich Scramble Road Race
Robert Staines was 6th in his first ERRL outing

Wednesday 18th July - Breckland CC 15
15 mile Time Trials are very rare; the Ellistons took advantage of the School Holidays and Breckland CC running a 15 mile TT to allow Katie-Ann Elliston to set a triple club record (Ladies, Junior Ladies and Juvenile Ladies) with a time of 38:09. Records

Wednesday 18th July - Wednesday League, 10.7 miles East Hanningfield, with Essex Roads
Paul Hart, despite setting a time of 23:27, was surprisingly not the quickest tonight; that honour went to Colin Ward in 21:26. Paul was fastest Wheeler though. Peter Stiff was Fastest Vet, Dan Salmon fastest on Vet Age Std and Carol Cartwright Fastest Lady. Results    Tables

An excellent morning on the fast E34 saw the fastest 10 of the year set by champion Chris Smith III, both Carol Cartwright and Ian Mackenzie (Trike) set new Age Records and 11 PBs were set. Results    Tables     Age Records

Wednesday 4th July - Wednesday League, East Hanningfield 10.7 miles E18, with Essex Roads
Paul Hart was fastest on a rare Wednesday outing, posting a time of 22:40 which was good enough for First on Handicap as well. Jamie Maidment was second and John Gretton was Fastest Veteran and First on Vet Age Standard in third. Martin Sutton set a Course Best as did Katie-Ann Elliston. Results    Tables

Sunday 1st July - Norman Wells 50 incorporating SW 50 Mile Cup
What a day at Steeple, the disappointment of the CTT National 50 being cancelled where Paul Hart was riding was somewhat offset by great morning of racing at Steeple. The course record was broken by Colin Ward of Essex Roads in a blistering time of 1:44:12. Seven Wheelers entered the event and we had 4 PBs and a Club Record! Chris Smith III was Fastest Wheelers and 3rd overall in 1:55:39, David Carey set a (Wheeler's) PB of 2:02:25, Andy Merchant set a PB of 2:24:35 and Katie-Ann Elliston set he first and best time of 2:32:15, setting the club record for Lady Juvenile in the process. It also means that she has qualified for the BAR

Peter Stiff was Fastest Rider, Fastest Vet and First on Handicap, Paul Hughes set a PB of 24:00 to be First on Vet Age Standard but ride of the night was Carol Cartwright setting an Age Record for 65 in 32:35, Results    Tables        Age Records

Chris Smith III was second fastest with a Course Best time 22:07, David Carey set a PB of 23:36 and Ian Mackenzie recorded a time of 34:35 on his Trike, which is a new Age Record for 72. Results     Tables       Age Records

Wednesday 20th June - Wednesday League, East Hanningfield, 10.7 miles, E18. With Essex Roads
A fast night tonight with 3 riders setting course Bests. David Carey took all the honours open to him with his CB of 24:23 (Fastest rider, Fastest Vet, First on Handicap and First on Vet Age Std). Jamie Maidment and Dan Jenkins also set CBs and Katie-Ann Elliston was Fastest Lady. Results    Tables

Sunday 17th June - Chelmer Open 25 / Chelmer-Southend Interclub; Bob Haworth Trophy. E9 Writtle
A great event for Southend with Paul Hart taking the Individual in a Course-Best time of 51:55 and Southend Wheelers taking the Bob Haworth Inter-club Trophy back from Chelmer, well done to our team of Paul Hart, Chris Smith III, David Carey and Jamie Maidment.
Elsewhere there were Personal Bests for Andy Merchant and Kate-Ann Elliston.
Chris Smith III, Jamie Maidment and Terry Butcher have all completed the 5 events necessary for the BAR.

Wednesday 13th June - Wednesday League Steeple, E21 with EETC
A big turn out tonight with the event run in conjunction with EETC. David Pennington was Fastest Overall with EETC youngster Clayton Thomas second and First on Handicap in his best time in a joint event with the Wheelers. Wednesday TT co-ordinator Jamie Maidment completed the podium. Elsewhere Dan Jenkins was Fastest Veteran, Andy Merchant set a course-best, Cherly Perry set a PB, Katie-Ann Elliston was Fastest Lady and Fastest Juvenile and we saw the debut (in a Wheeler's event) of 3 EETC youngsters. Ian Mackenzie on this Trike rode 6:27:36 a new Age Record for 72 for Trike

Saturday 9th June - Maldon Open 10, incorporating GHS 10. Steeple E21
4 Wheelers rising today; Chris Smith III set a Course Best of 22:06, Jamie Maidment beat 25 minutes, Katie-Ann Elliston rode a solid 27:38 and Andy Merchant was bang on Age-Standard at 26:59. Results    Tables

The Nation's best Para Cycling Riders took to the lanes of Canewdon for the National TT. Results   Report

Wednesday 6th June 2018 - Wednesday League, SPOCO Event with Essex Roads, East Hanningfield E18
3 riders set Course Bests (David Carey, Jamie Maidment and Helen Morley) but none could stop Peter Stiff taking Fastest Rider, Fastest Vet and First on Vet Age Std. David Carey's CB was good enough for First on Handicap and Helen Morley was Fastest Lady. Results     Tables
