There was a poor turnout on a wet and strong windy day with only 18
riders starting the Categories ABCD race and 16 in the EFGH race.
The race was held over one hour plus laps and held primarily on the lower circuit with full circuit laps taking in the steep hill (prime) every twenty minutes with the finish also on the hill.
The first race for Categories EFGH had rain from start to finish and saw Bob Downs (JLT Condor) and five others breaking clear from the bunch. Bob then broke clear of the group with Dave Pollard (In-Gear) but eventually continued on his own to take the honours. Dave Pollard was second and Geoff Bores (Ford) third both in advance of the chasing bunch.
The ABCD race were more fortunate as by the later 11.30a.m.start the rain had stopped and the circuit had started to dry out.
The race took on a familiar format with Antony Wallis (Ciclos Uno) escaping from the bunch on the first lap together with Tomasz Chmielewski (Finchley). Tomasz lost contact after four laps with Antony continuing on alone to eventually lap the field. With five laps to go Toks Adesanya (Private) escaped from the chasing bunch to take a well earned second place. Robin Parker won the bunch sprint to take third place.
Thanks go to:
Mike Brushett, Trevor Mills , Arnold Russell, Mike Street , Dan Tape, Peter Wilson , and Debbie (First Aid) for their help on the day.
