2019 Summer Racing and TT News

Wednesday 12th June - Wednesday League, East Hanningfield E18, 11.6 miles with Essex Roads
Awful weather resulted in a low turn out tonight so well done to the riders and marshalls who made the event happen. Dan Jenkins took all the Wheelers' Honours with his course best of 29:50 taking First on Handicap, Fastest Vet and First on Age Standard. Andy Merchant and Adrian Cartwright completed the podium. Kate-Ann Elliston was Fastest Lady, ahead of second Lady Carol Cartwright. Results     Tables

Sunday 9th June - 2019 Club Road Race Championship, Hog Hill
David Pennington continued his dominant season taking the main prize of Club Road Race Champion as well as picking up the Sprint Elimination and Relay Races too. Elsewhere Katie-Ann Elliston also trebled up with Ladies Road Race, Junior Road Race and Slow Race Titles while Barry Simpson also doubled up with Veteran Road Race and Slow Race titles. The road race is also a qualification event for the BAR and this has shaken up the standings. Race Results     BAR

Wednesday 5th June - Roy Godbeer Non-aero, Steeple E21
Wet conditions greeted the riders on this special race. David Pennington, riding a fixed gear was Fastest Wheeler in 25:29, Ben Willy riding his first TT since this same event 4 years ago was second in 27:24, taking the honour of First on Handicap. Barry Simpson in third was First on Vet Age Standard. Katie-Ann Elliston was Fastest Lady. Fastest rider overall was ex-Wheeler Rober Staines (Pedal Heaven) in a stunning 23:30. But the Webmaster's ride of the night goes to Martin Harris whose 29:01 was just two seconds shy of his course best set back in 2011 (despite my Garmin showing 28:57!). Results     Tables

Sunday 2nd June - Maldon Open 50, Steeple E21
This was Paul Hart's first race since his crash at Easter and he eased himself back with a time of 1:57:49. Note from Webmaster - Handicap for this race may be incorrect as Paul Hart's best 50 is faster than the handicap tables have been built for

Saturday 1st June - Saturday Time Trial, 7 miles, Canewdon E36
Summer is here, and what better way to celebrate 20 degree heat than a short Time Trial around Canewdon on the new E36 course. A slightly disappointing turn out of 9 Wheelers amongst the 10 riders on such a nice day (plus 7 assorted marshalls and time keepers). First to complete the course and hence set the (unofficial) course record, was guest rider Dan Marsh who finished second overall. Fastest rider was Russel Whitford, setting the course record in 18:04, John Gretton was fastest on a road bike and Nicola Elliston was fastest lady.   Results and Tables
