"So today I went on an adventure with a goal to complete my first ever
100 mile ride. I completed this with good company of my club mates
Barry, Martin and Ben which definitely made the day loads more enjoyable
and helped keep me motivated to keep going. Martin created an amazing
route plan taking us out to the Blue Egg for a cafe lunch stop (one of
my favourite places when doing bike rides).
I left home at 8.40 and we all met up in Rochford Square for a 9am departure. We went out towards East Hanningfield and down Butts Green Road then out going up between Danbury and Chelmsford then through Great Dunmow, Thaxted, Great Samfford then into Finchingfield and to Great Bardfield for the cafe stop. We then came back home coming via Great Saling, Great Leighs, Terling, Hatfield Peveral, Bicknacre to Battlesbridge and home.
We definitely chose a good day to do the ride as had wonderful weather allowing for great views when at the top of the hills doing just under 4,000ft of climbing. My legs are aching this evening after that but I am very pleased with doing my first milestone and will be doing it again."
Note - not content with 100, Ben rode a strange route home bringing up the 150
