On Saturday 25 July, Southend Wheelers held their women friendly cycle
ride as part of Cycling UK’s, Women’s Festival of Cycling, which is
currently taking place across the UK between 11 – 31 July.
Starting from the Ann Boleyn PH in Rochford, two groups made their way out to the new Cycle Café at Battlesbridge, meeting up with other club riders, where they enjoyed coffee and cake. One group then continued on around the Hanningfields before returning to Rochford, whilst the other group took the more direct route home.
Women’s cycling is a growth area of our sport and one that Southend Wheelers would love to grow. If you’re a woman who cycles, maybe you have started in the recent months and would like to join other women and enjoyment that cycling brings then let us know.
Currently, due to Covid 19 restrictions we are following government guidelines and that of our governing body, British Cycling. We hope to be back in our weekly meeting place, Canewdon Village Hall soon, when we can resume our weekly group rides.
