A helping hand from The Southend Wheelers

Southend Wheelers member Dan Walsh answered the call of help for a fellow cyclist Ryan Anderton at the weekend, following an appeal post on the club’s Facebook page.

Ryan Anderton is cycling around Britain for charity and was passing through Southend and needed somewhere to stay Sunday night as his previous proposed stop was cancelled at the last minute.

Dan came to the rescue, providing overnight accommodation and a healthy breakfast to set him on the next part of his journey, which takes him to London (42 miles) where he is meeting up with his fiancé.

Ryan’s is undertaking a cycle ride around the coast of Britain which he started on 12th July, to date covering 2,100 miles, today’s stage is number 23 of 40. Yesterday he cycled from Halesworth down through Ipswich, Colchester and on to Southend covering exactly 100 miles.

Following his overnight stop in London, Ryan will be back on the bike the following day, heading towards the South coast, stopping off at Brighton, Bournemouth, Plymouth and on towards Cornwall before heading north, only using roads closest to the coast.

We wish you well Ryan on the rest of your journey.
