Calling all Club riders! The Club track
Championships are back, details as below:
Date: Saturday 13th September 2014. We have exclusive use of the track from 14:00 to 18:00
Venue:
Herne Hill Velodrome,
104 Burbage Road, Herne Hill, London, SE24 9HE.

Getting there:
As you won’t need to
take a bike, you can get to the velodrome by train or road. Herne Hill
Station is about 10 minutes walk from the velodrome, trains run from
London Blackfriars & Farringdon or to North Dulwich Station from London Bridge. For
those going by car, I suggest we run a car share and drive over
together. I am happy to co-ordinate this if you want it. Here are 3 of
the many route options
a) - Over the QE2 Bridge, into London on the A2 and round the South
Circular A205
b) - Into London on either the A127/A12 or A13, through the Blackwall
Tunnel and again onto the South Circular.
c) - Into Central London, over Tower Bridge and south along the A215
Camberwell Road
Transport for London's route guide suggests that it is a comfortable 30
minute ride from either Fenchurch or Liverpool Street Stations and they
offer route advice.
General information: Poster

Age Restriction: All riders must be at
least 12 years old
What to take:
You will need to take your cycling kit,
Mitts or Gloves and Helmets are MANDATORY,
shoes, pedals (see below) a warm jacket and track bottoms for when
you’re not riding. The track is outdoors and the wind can whistle across
it a bit sharpish so I suggest you don’t forget leg warmers or longs in
case it gets cold.
Facilities at the track are basic, to say the least and there
will not be a café or any where to get drinks, food etc. The nearest
cafés are in the area around Herne Hill Station and are, shall we say,
“Bijou”, so you are strongly advised to bring all drinks and food you’ll
need with you.
Track bike
hire: will be available from
the velodrome at no additional charge. These bikes have clips and straps
but you are allowed to change the pedals to use your normal road shoes.
Don’t forget to bring a pedal spanner though! Note also that you cannot
change the gearing on these bikes.
If you wish to bring rollers (NOT turbos) to warm up on, please
feel free but remember to consider space if car sharing.
Timetable:
We will have access to the
track from 14:00 and will need to make use of every moment. Riders will
therefore be advised to arrive at least an hour before hand so that we
can register riders, issue body numbers and the VCC can sort out hire
bikes for those who need them. Activities from 14:00 tbc
