Celebrating International Women’s Day

smithc486

Women have been an integral part of Southend Wheelers since 1937, when Florrie Newbery became our first female member. Her legacy lives on through the Florrie Newbery Classic, a National B Road Race dedicated to women, now a key event in the British Women’s Team Cup series. This years event takes place on 27th April around East Hanningfield, following the Andrews Trophy which takes place in the morning.

As part of the Women’s Festival of Cycling, we’re excited to host a series of women-only rides from 1st-8th June, providing a welcoming space for female cyclists of all levels.
