Thursday 16 June saw some Club members gather at the service to remember Ron Douce, former Eastern Counties, Essex and Club champion. Ron was our oldest club champion, and longest ever serving committee member, when he joined the Committee in 1948 as Junior rep. He was the Club Treasurer for 33 years, and until his passing, was the Club auditor. Bob Barber, Dave Whybrow and Ron Line all paid tribute to Ron at the service. This year the Club made a special award to Ron in recognition of Ron's service to the Club, and this time last year also bought Ron and his wife Sylvie a dining voucher to celebrate his 90th birthday. He would have been 91 this week! Ron's career medals will be sorted for display.
